Lemarchand joins from his position as CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Media US. In his new role he will be in charge of capturing growth opportunities for the company in this region through focusing the organisation around its core brands, entering into new partnerships and disseminating a digital and innovation-driven culture throughout the company.

Yves Bougon, CEO of Japanese subsidiary Hachette Fujinghao, and Victor Visot, CEO for Greater China (Continental China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), South East Asia, India and Australia, will be reporting to him.

According Lagardère Active CEO Didier Quillot, Asia-Pacific constitutes a major growth area for the company. "In the US, Alain successfully reorganised the company and refocused it on expansion. He will likewise be able to face the challenges of innovation posed by the Asia-Pacific zone with the same talent, building up on the drive and dynamism of the teams in those countries,” he said.

Lemarchand has spent most of his career with the Lagardère Group. In September 2008, he joined Hachette Filipacchi Media US as CEO.
