Hong Kong brands dial up warm, fuzzy Christmas cheer

From Hong Kong: 'Wishes come true', for Landmark by DDB Group Hong Kong and 'World of warmth' for Shangri-La by Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong

Hong Kong brands dial up warm, fuzzy Christmas cheer

To complement the Landmark shopping centre's annual Christmas installation—a massive, elaborate, animated Christmas scene in a high-traffic atrium—DDB has created an augmented-reality app. The app works with a leaflet kids can colour (available at the shopping centre or online), animating a teddy bear and and allowing users to post a short video of their teddy. The app also dishes information about "exclusive shopping experiences and exquisite rewards". And there's charity tie-in, as Landmark will donate HK$20 (US$2.58) to Make a Wish Hong Kong for each video posted.

Meanwhile, Shangri-La, Working with Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong, is posting a video a day on Instagram and WeChat, following "the magical journey of a little Christmas Star who travels to earth and is welcomed by a myriad of whimsical creatures and characters." The little star's adventures highlight the hotel chain's properties around the region, naturally.

Ad Nut is certain these are not the last unbearably cute Christmas promotions we'll see.
