OMG Asia-Pacific set to update regional management structure

ASIA-PACIFIC – Additional details have emerged about impending leadership changes at OMG Asia-Pacific, which will see the network appoint sub-regional heads for Greater China and Southeast Asia.

Cheuk Chiang understood to replace Barry Cupples as CEO of OMG Asia-Pacific

As Campaign Asia-Pacific reported in March, Cheuk Chiang, currently PHD’s Asia-Pacific CEO, is tipped to be replacing Barry Cupples as head of OMG Asia-Pacific as part of a series of regional management changes in the network.

Chiang is understood to be assuming the role on 3 June, taking over the reins from Cupples, who is set to now lead the network's global Investment and Accountability organisation.

It is not yet known who will take over the Asia-Pacific CEO role at PHD.

According to an industry source, OMG is also set to overhaul its regional management structure, creating two sub-regional roles covering Greater China and Southeast Asia. This would bring OMG’s structure in these markets in line with its operations in Australia and New Zealand, currently overseen by Leigh Terry.

Doug Pearce, OMG China CEO, is expected to add Greater China to his responsibilities, overseeing the businesses in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Jasmin Sorahbji, CEO of OMG India, is expected to add responsibility for Southeast Asia markets to her remit. The changes do not affect OMD CEO Steve Blakeman, who will continue in his current role, according to the source.

Chiang was one of the first hires Cupples made following his arrival in Singapore to head OMG Asia-Pacific. Since heading up PHD Asia-Pacific, Chiang has helped the agency punch well above its weight, and PHD was recently named Campaign Asia-Pacific’s Media Network of the Year.
