SK+G Advertising was tasked with producing the commercial that would tease the opening of the US$1.8 billion resort. The TVC has just begun airing in Hong Kong, China and Macau for the opening scheduled on 15 May.

The ad is based on the concept of people lighting wish lanterns and releasing them into the air, culminating in a vast sea of lanterns above the massive resort.

The shoot, for which SK+G managing partner Jerry Kramer traveled to Hong Kong and Macau, lasted six days and involved about 50 crew members.

Earlier this month JCDecaux Transport Hong Kong launched its largest station-wide metro advertising campaign to promote the pre-launch of the resort. The month-long campaign includes 10,000 square meters of coverage and 20 advertising formats including lightboxes and digital panels.

At a total investment of HK$14.9 billion, the 550,000 square meter Galaxy Macau  will include the 250 suits and 10 floating villas of the Banyan Tree Macau, the 500-room Hotel Okura Macau and the 1,500-room Galaxy Hotel. Banyan Tree has a 2,800 square meter spa, and over 50 international and Asian food and beverage outlets, shopping areas and a 52,000 square meter Grand Resort Deck man-made beach.
