SINGAPORE - StarHub, the second-largest telco in Singapore, is launching a new social networking value-added service which allows its mobile post-paid customers to enjoy unlimited local access to Windows Live Messenger and Facebook from mobile devices.

The service is billed as a first for a mobile service provider in Asia and comes with no data usage charges.

The service is also set to tap on the growing usage of Windows Live Messenger and Facebook on mobile phones, which are two of the most popular social networking tools among youths in the city-state.

At launch, the social networking service is available to customers using selected handset models pre-installed with Windows Live Messenger and/or Facebook, such as Samsung OMNIA II, HTC Diamond 2, Nokia E63 and the LG GM730 smartphone.

In recent months, StarHub has been actively targeting youth segments in Singapore as the telco launched a series of rave parties and street performances to promote its mobile packages  to younger consumers in the city-state in June.
