Sentosa Leisure appoints SPRG for two signature year-end events

SINGAPORE - Sentosa Leisure Group (SLG) has appointed Strategic Public Relations Group (SPRG) Singapore as the PR agency for two signature year-end events.

Sentosa Leisure appoints SPRG for two signature year-end events

The two events are Halloween event Sentosa Spooktacular and New Year's Eve event Sentosa’s Siloso Beach Party. The appointment will see SPRG provide SLG with strategic communications counsel, including targeted publicity initiatives as well as media relations.

“SPRG presented a series of new ideas and concepts that gave a refreshing spin to our events,” Anna Ng, deputy director, marketing of Sentosa Leisure Group, said. “We hope to draw more people into our brand of spooky fun and beach entertainment.”

The appointment comes after a five-way pitch, called in July. Agencies involved in the pitch are not made known.

SPRG had previously in charge of the PR efforts for several events held at Sentosa such as Swatch’s 2007 FIVB Beach Volley World Tour and this year’s Transformers Cybertron Convention at Resorts World Sentosa.

The agency will also be doing the overall communications outreach for the inaugural Red Bull Flugtag 2012 next month at Tanjong Beach in Sentosa.

“As a destination, there really isn’t another place in the world that rivals Sentosa,” Edwin Yeo (pictured), general manager of SPRG Singapore, said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun working with Sentosa to take its signature events to the next level.”

He added that the biggest challenge of the brief was how to differentiate the two Sentosa events from their competitors, as the public gets more choices each year. "We took a risk and challenged convention for both events and developed rather unusual approaches to both, which we think impressed Sentosa."

SPRG Singapore is currently the agency of record for entertainment & lifestyle accounts such as NBC Universal, Hasbro, Celestial Tiger Entertainment, AETN All Asia Networks, Life Inspired and cinema exhibitor Golden Village.
