The award, created by TBWA Group Singapore for Martell, celebrates the talent of Singapore’s top photographers and their contribution to the artistic development of photography.

A jury of top local and international personalities from the arts and photography fields will award the winning photographer with US$23,667 in prize money, the biggest prize purse for a photography competition in the country.

The winner will also have their work showcased in a specially commissioned book and win an all-expenses paid trip to Cognac in France, the home of Martell.

“The award was created to underscore the key Martell Cordon Bleu value of ‘Discerning enjoyment’ as reflected in the work of the artists,” said Nirmalo Wilkes, TBWA Group Singapore regional director of international brands.

The nomination committee includes prominent local and international personalities such as Simon Bainbridge, editor of the British Journal of Photography; Agnes de Gouvion Saint-Cyr, an independent curator of photography from France; Kwok Kian Chow, director of the National Art Gallery Singapore; Bridget Tracey Tan, director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts; and Paul-Robert Bouhier, managing director of Pernod Ricard Singapore.
