Shenan Chuang, Ogilvy Group China’s chief executive, indicated that the promotions would serve to reinforce the network’s organisational structure and integration.
Kronick, who has been in charge of Ogilvy PR in China for 13 years, was recently named PR agency head of the year at Media’s Asian PR Awards. He said that while building culture within the group would not be a priority, his goal was to implement a more discipline-neutral approach to “integrate and focus on creativity and effectiveness”.
Reitermann, meanwhile, will relocate to Shanghai after nine years in Beijing, where he initiated a number of business models including joint ventures with iTop and German mobile marketing firm iconmobile. Reitermann could not be reached for comment on his promotion.
Both roles will take effect in the new year.
Separately, the network has named Charles Chiu as president of its Guangzhou office, along with Louis Cacciutolo as Southern China chief executive of OgilvyAction, also in Guangzhou.
Commenting on his role, Cacciutolo explained that he intended to emphasise OgilvyAction’s credentials as a “scientific” retail marketing agency in the region, stating that the majority remained “design-based” rather than focusing on consumer insight. But he added that the task ahead would not be easy.
“It will be a long education process, as most clients don’t allow agencies enough time to take a scientific approach,” he said.
Initial clients in Southern China will include Wal Mart and Trust-Mart, BAT, and Unilever, as well as pharmacy chain Watsons, which will work with the agency on a project basis. The practice was established in the region in September.
