Expedia appoints Publicis as creative agency for Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE – Expedia has appointed Publicis as its creative agency for the Southeast Asia region.

Dan Lynn, head of Expedia Asia

This follows a pitch that came down to two agencies: Publicis and Euro RSCG.

The account will be managed out of the agency’s Singapore office and will include all of Expedia’s branding and advertising needs in offline, broadcast and digital channels across the region.

Dan Lynn, head of Expedia Asia, said the company’s expansion in the Southeast Asia region would be an important step in further developing its global footprint.

He said this was particularly exciting “given the region’s incredible influence in online travel".

"We are pleased to partner with Publicis as they share the same understanding, drive and passion for the immense potential in the region.”

Adding that Expedia has ambitious plans for the region, Lynn said that Publicis’ work will centre around communicating the ease and modern approach Expedia brings to booking travel.

Since entering the Southeast Asian market in late 2010, Expedia has launched localised sites in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and has entered in to a joint venture with the region’s leading low cost airline, AirAsia, to become the exclusive online home of its flights.

Sam Cassels, CEO Publicis Singapore, said, “It is amazing to see how rapidly Expedia has expanded its presence in Asia and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work on the brand. We are confident of creating a compelling brand identity that matches the drive and ambition of Expedia globally.”
