Digital happenings this week from Lintas, Tencent, Mindshare and more

A roundup of the latest digital people moves, account wins, pitches and developments across the Asia-Pacific region.

Chen Sands has been appointed as head of Mindshare Singapore's social media department. The appointment took effect in April and brings the total number of staff members to seven. Sands was previously the senior manager for digital at Mindshare. She joined the agency two years ago.

Tencent has appointed former Yahoo APAC marketing VP Jeff Han as GM, marketing department, online media. Han's role took effect two weeks ago following his relocation to Beijing. His scope of duties includes bolstering Tencent’s online media business, from B2B, B2C, multimedia resources to PR and branding.

Lintas Beijing has won the creative duties for Taobao women’s apparel following a three-way pitch in early April. This marks the second major win for the agency after the appointment of new CEO Andy Xu, former MD of JWT Beijing. Ecommerce is a new account category for Lintas.

Toys 'R' Us has launched a Taobao flagship store on China's B2C shopping platform Tmall.com. The launch coincides with the upcoming Children's Day on 1 June, typically the company's largest day of sales. The retailer currently has 18 physical stores across the Mainland. Online shoppers at the branded online store on Tmall.com will enjoy the same offline prices.

Peter Bojanac has joined online video and entertainment company Vena as chief revenue officer. In this role specially created for Bojanac because of his skill set, he will be responsible for aligning the agency's marketing solution to client opportunities across Asia-Pacific. Previously he has worked at PeopleBrowsr, Spiral Media, mobile ad network Mojiva and Viva9, which he founded.

Mobile advertising shop Amobee has acquired 3D mobile ad business Adjitsu from Cooliris. The acquisition gives Amobee access to the technology to create ads that lets users engage with 3D models of advertisers' products. It also can be used to transform existing 2D ad assets into interactive 3D campaigns. 

Leo Burnett Hong Kong has created a pro-bono campaign for Orbis, a non-profit organisation fighting preventable blindness, to generate donations towards the cause. Located at Thedarkwall.com, the campaign coincides with the organisation's 30th anniversary and invites people to help break down a 'wall of darkness' depicting blindness-related stories of pain and sorrow from the poorest regions of the world.

The Cartoon Network has released the findings of its ‘New generations’ study, proving that nearly two-thirds of children in the Philippines now own a mobile phone, positioning the country as one of the most connected in the region. According to the study, phone ownership among Filipino children has leapt by 71 per cent since 2009, with 65 per cent of 7-year-olds and 14-year-olds now owning a mobile phone.
