Waggener Edstrom strengthens integrated strategy with new appointments

SINGAPORE - Waggener Edstrom (WE) has made a series of appointments to strengthen its integrated strategy and support its expansion across its healthcare, transportation, public sector and technology practices.

Shawn Balakrishnan has joined the agency as account director, overseeing both public sector and corporate campaigns in Singapore. His previous experience includes stints at Fortune 500 firms and start-ups in Singapore and around the region, his most recent at integrated marketing agency Band as regional account director.

Also joining the team in Singapore are Juan Sanchez as community manager and Jonathan Gonzalez as content strategist, both newly created roles at the agency. Sanchez will be responsible for leading social media marketing and online engagement for clients. This entails campaign management, growing the connections between brands and their constituents online, and applying WE's social media stream infrastructure to ensure that its clients have an engaging and sustainable profile across social media platforms.

Gonzalez will provide strategic counsel on the development and placement of content across different platforms. His most recent stint was at the Economic Intelligence Unit as well as the social policy division of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). 

The trio will report to Carolyn Camoens who recently took the reins as deputy general manager while still maintaining her role as digital lead for Singapore.

"Integrated communications remains the foundation of all our offerings - we are adding more diverse talent to our team and consistently investing in training and development to ensure our consultants are fully equipped with the right skill set and information as the industry continues to evolve," said Matthew Lackie, senior vice-president for WE South Asia.

Elsewhere, WE Singapore also appointed Ashley Lim as regional project manager lead. Lim was previously a social media consultant and marketing manager with Brandtology. She will report to Nathan Misner, senior vice-president of Studio D Asia-Pacific, and manage project management resources across Asia-Pacific.
