He will work closely with the local team in China as well as Arun Kumar, head of digital, Mediabrands Asia-Pacific who is based in Singapore. Zeng will report to Simon Woodward, CEO, UM China.

Zeng joins the UM team with over a decade of communications experience in China, the past five of which he has specialised in digital. He was most recently business director and media head at Tribal DDB Shanghai, where he managed a team of 15  and served clients such as Volkswagen China, McDonald’s and Acer.

The agency said Zeng’s appointment as digital head reflects the fact that UM is focused on the development and expansion of its digital services to clients.

“We’re very happy to have Mike join the digital team,” said Woodward. “This is an area where UM offers best-in-class services, and Mike has so much to offer in terms of digital strategy, creative and media planning and buying.  We look forward to seeing Mike help our clients achieve their business goals.”
