
When I was a journalist at The Standard I worked closely with PR professionals and thought it would be a good career progression.
What is the mood right now in the market you're in?
I think there is a general sense of optimism with regards to the economy in Hong Kong. A lot of the companies are beginning to re-implement communications programmes and CEPA will deliver some interesting new business opportunities.
What do you enjoy about your work environment?
The diversity makes my job extremely interesting. I get to meet people from all walks of life and securing positive coverage for my clients is extremely satisfying. The experience I have gained has been invaluable.
What, or who, is your inspiration?
My portfolio of clients - we encourage a partnership approach, which undoubtedly leads to the best results. When I see my clients on television or in the print media delivering the soundbites we have prepared, that is particularly rewarding.
What piece of advice would you give to a PR rookie?
Rise to the challenges on a daily basis and always think creatively and laterally.
What has been your biggest mistake?
You have to treat every mistake seriously, but these should also be viewed as a learning curve for your career development. If no one made mistakes, the industry would not improve nor would it be competitive.
What has been your greatest achievement?
Winning a worldwide MS&L Silver Stars Award for a corporate reputation programme for our client CPA Australia.
Where do you see yourself in the next two years?
Managing more international clients and setting successful communications strategies that delivers the best results across borders.
