L'Oreal calls media pitch in Hong Kong
According to sources close to the review second-round pitches took place last week. Carat and ZenithOptimedia are believed to have been shortlisted. Universal McCann is understood to have pitched in the first round and it remains unclear whether the incumbent agency Mindshare is involved.

The news comes as L’Oreal pitches its media business market by market as part of a two-year mandatory review.

In China L'Oreal is holding a TV buying pitch. At least four agencies began presentations to the company in Shanghai two weeks ago, including Mindshare, ZenithOptimedia and two local shops.

In June Nihon L'Oreal retained Universal McCann as its media agency-of-record in Japan, after a pitch that also involved Dentsu, Hakuhodo and Asatsu-DK.

According to research firm TNS, China’s cosmetics market is the second-largest in Asia-Pacific after Japan, and the market is estimated to grow by 20 per cent in 2009.
