The company wanted to provide a unique experience that offered guests a lot of ‘wow’,
provided training on LG airconditioning and gave a first glimpse of new products.
China was chosen because it is considered the place to be ahead of next year’s Olympic Games.
Challenges
One challenge was coordinating the travel requirements of guests who came from several cities and towns across Australia.
Eventsource also had to ensure the itinerary offered unique experiences for the delegates,
some of whom had previously visited China.
The weather also played a part, with the itinerary flexible enough to avoid hot days and
crowded cities, always ensuring that LG’s delegates travelled and dined at the right times in
the right places.
Execution
Blessed with good weather and little pollution, the itinerary was completed as planned. Daily
events were kept secret from guests until the last minute, which meant dining at the
Great Wall, a drink at the world’s highest bar and a foot massage before the return flight, really
were surprises.
In Beijing, the group took a bicycle ride around the Forbidden City and enjoyed a sunset cruise on a lake in the Hutong area.
At the Great Wall incentive, the wall was lit as the sun set and performers entertained with a
dragon dance. A performance by the Chinese Imperial Dance Troupe followed.
In Shanghai, the group experienced a luxury dinner cruise on the Huangpu River as the sun
set and the city lights came on. The ERA acrobatic display also impressed the Australians.
Verdict
Janelle Dilger, marketing category manager, air conditioning and IT, at LG Electronics Australia, says:
“The trip was perfectly organised. The spectacular itinerary captured the spirit and culture of China, with highlights including the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. All who
attended were impressed with the professionalism of the organisers.”
