Leagas Delaney Shanghai named creative agency for WeChat Pay

Leagas Delaney will provide branding and strategic planning services to help WeChat Pay stand out in the rapidly growing mobile-payment category.

“We are extremely satisfied with our new creative partner," said Cici Xiong, marketing manager at Tenpay, the wholly owned division of Tencent resposible for providing mobile-payment capabilities to all of Tencent platforms. "The [Leagas Delaney] team truly understands our business objectives and delivers strong creative and quick turnaround.”

TenPay provides the payment-processing technology for WeChat, Mobile QQ, and Tencent Games. It has a 20 per cent market share within the mobile-payment industry. WeChat has become a daily social platform for its 400 million Chinese users (rumoured to be 600 million according to one source), and WeChat Pay enables convenient, secure, and effortless in-app payments.

The first piece of creative from Leagas Delaney will go live at the end of this month.
