Tan joins the firm as managing director shopper marketing, Asia-Pacific. The intention is to expand shopper marketing capabilities across APAC, which would include the Shoptology brand, where it makes sense, said Mike Amour, Project: Worldwide’s APAC CEO.

Just last year the company added US-based Shoptology to its business. Charlie Anderson, former North American CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi X heads the unit.

Based in Guangzhou, China, Tan will have a core team that will be announced shortly. He will also work in partnership with existing businesses in relevant geographies.

“Shopper marketing is core to our ability to deliver powerful programmes that engage consumers and drive them to act,” Amour said. “He has a proven track record with world-class clients and knows how to lead big businesses across both agencies and geographies.”

Last year, Amour told Campaign Asia-Pacific that Asia accounts for 20 per cent of the company's $1 billion revenue. In 2012, business grew 20 per cent year on year. The company has offices in China, India, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Tan has over 20 years experience with clients such as P&G, Colgate Palmolive, BAT, Diageo, Johnson & Johnso, Lenovo, Coca Cola, and Asia Pacific Breweries. Prior to Saatchi & Saatchi X, he held leadership positions with Grey/G2 and Ogilvy Action Asia Pacific.

Tan will report to Amour, who is based in Singapore, and will work closely with Charlie Anderson.
