One of the more well--known 3D commercials to come out to the market is this spot for the new Audi 8L model by Creativeland Asia. Underscoring the theme of the TVC is its tagline 'Advanced state of mind' wherein a man envisions his perfect car. He is suddenly thrust backward as his ideal car features assemble around him piece by piece in slow motion. View the 3D version here
Another TVC that makes use of well-timed slow motion effects is this Adidas ad for its football line of shoes. With a soothing piano piece playing in the backdrop, CGI-animated football players display the power of the shoes as they pass the ball to one another.
To promote its new 3D camera, Ogilvy Germany created a 45 second 3D ad for Fujifilm in the UK cinemas late last year. It features a man showing two friends photos of recent US trip. They are then transported into the scene in one of the still pictures. When one friend asks if the camera has a video function, the scene bursts into life.
A 3D ad from Asia is this one from Japan's Sapporo beer created by Dentsu Canada. This TVC takes the viewer to a fictional underground world adventure as part of its 'Legendary Biru' campaign. It tells the story of the brewing process of Sapporo beers by weaving Japanese culture, history and heritage all with CGI technology.
Aside from the game itself, the Superbowl in the US is also known for its commercials that rank among the most expensive in the world. One such TVC is from SoBe Life Water created by The Arnell Group in 2009 that shows an amusing musical entitled 'Lizard Lake' - a play on the classic 'Swan Lake'. As you would guess, it features lizards but also actual American football players looking uncomfortable performing ballet moves. View the 3D version here.
Birds Eye was one of the first FMCG companies in Australia to utilise stereoscopic animated/ live action technology for its popular Fish Fingers product. The spot features the return of its icon Captain Birds Eye along with his birds Gill, Chip, Finn, Goldie and Brock in an animated, Pixar-style adventure in the seas.
German car manufacturer Mini rolled out this slow-motion 3D ad created by agency BSUR featuring its new line of cars going up against a five-tonne moster truck. The TVC makes use of cutting edge technology to come up with two minutes of dumbstruck viewers losing control of themselves while watching the attempted stunt.
DDB Chicago brings as another American football-themed TVC with the tagline 'There is no junk in that trunk' featuring actor Carl Weathers for Budlight beer in the US. Tailgate parties are common in the US before football games and the ad shows how one can create their 'ultimate tailgate car', complete with barbecue grill, popcorn machine and beer cooler. A comical take on the 3D world is provided by Sony in this TVC for its 3D HD television starring singer Justin Timberlake and American football quarterback Peyton Manning. Created by US-based agency 180 La, it follows the two stars taking a tour of Sony's headquarters and highlights Sony's expertise in several aspects of 3D entertainment. Just don't take off those 3D glasses though, guys!
The fashion world has also decided to throw their hat into the 3D ring via Armani Exchange in its Speed Style ad developed by New York-based creative studio Suspect. Showing the sexy side of fashion, it features a rendezvous between two young lovers in a tunnel complete with light effects and sensual music in the background. View the 3D version here.
