TBWA SMP tackles fantasy worlds with Champion Infinity detergent

THE PHILIPPINES - TBWA Santiago Mangada Puno has ditched the traditional mum approach in its new campaign for detergent brand Champion Infinity with the first of a series of TVCs set to be aired throughout the year.

Instead, it has opted for a fantasy-type setting that follows a magical journey led by a nymph to cleanse worlds of hard-to-wash stains.

The TVC is the first in a series of 'fantaserye'-inspired commercials showcasing the cleansing powers of Champion Infinity detergents such as anti- bacterial, whitening and its ability to withstand different types of water. 'Fantaseryes' refer to fantasy-themed TV series that are currently popular in Philippine primetime television.

The first TVC shows the nymph visiting a fantasy Hobbit-type world whose residents have been besieged by mango stains on their clothes from nearby trees. She confidently declares that she has the powers to rid them of their stains and make their clothes clean again.

Starring in the role of the nymph is local celebrity and politician Lucy Torres-Gomez who signed on as its brand ambassador.

"We really wanted it to be different, as Infinity is different in itself. We decided to push the limit with advertising by treating the problem as a world of its own, like with mangoes," explained Caloy Bacani, manager for Champion Detergents.
