MediaCorp rebrands free-to-air channel

SINGAPORE - MediaCorp has launched a new free-to-air channel, okto, in Singapore.

To be made available in October, the new channel is a revamp of the broadcaster’s Central channel, which showcases kids and art-based programming.

Lim Suat Jien (pictured), managing director of MediaCorp, TV12 said, “[The relaunch of Central] is part of our strategy to cater to our viewers as they grow with us. With our new programming, we will continue to strengthen our connections with the kids and arts communities.”

The creation of okto also paves the way for Vasantham, MediaCorp’s Tamil programme offering which currently airs on Central, to become a fully-fledged channel.
