Ken Mandel takes chair as IAB Singapore announces leadership council

SINGAPORE - Following its set-up in June the Interactive Advertising Bureau Singapore (IAB) has named its leadership council and executive officers to head the trade association for 2009/10.

Ken Mandel (pictured), vice-president and managing director, Yahoo Southeast Asia, has been elected chairman.

Aside from Mandel, the leadership council, which will represent the general membership, includes:

Grant Watts, CEO, DMS Group
Sim Hong Huat, assistant vice president, MediaCorp
Joe Nguyen, vice-president sales, comScore
Lori Sobel, managing director, Southeast Asia, Google
Nick Fawbert, managing partner, Third Space Asia
Raymond Teoh, assistant vice-president, Singapore Press Holdings
Reza Behnam, partner, Digital Direction
Richard Huggins, APS director - SEA, Microsoft Advertising
Varsha Rao, CEO, SingTel Digital Media/inSing.com

The association has also elected the following as executive officers, to implement the decisions of the Leadership Council: Nick Fawbert will be secretary and Raymond Teoh will be treasurer.

Chairman Mandel said: “We have established a strong and inclusive industry association that will advance digital advertising in Singapore and throughout the region. The IAB is committed to providing tremendous value to its members, and it will work towards achieving the shared vision of an interactive industry that delivers 20 per cent of all marketing expenditure by 2020.”

He added: “Through participation in IAB working committees, all association members can contribute to efforts that build awareness, understanding and trust in digital as an effective medium for marketers.”

The IAB has also outlined steps to help all sectors of the marketing industry use the digital medium more effectively and will tap on the Media Development Authority of Singapore to support the interactive industry through a variety of means.

The association is also calling for participation from companies interested in joining as association members for the coming year.
