Industry mourns creative veteran Stoney Mudd

Mudd, who was most recently a freelance creative for several agencies and Invest HK, spent the latter stages of his career as CD of McCann Erickson and member of the McCann Worldwide creative team.

He was one of the founding members of the Hong Kong 4As, after arriving in Hong Kong in 1975.

He began his career in the US before moving to JWT Germany to work on the Ford business. During his career, he was responsible for iconic campaigns for Hennessy FOV and XO, Johnnie Walker Black Label and San Miguel.

Mudd is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth. “Stoney was my business partner for the four years that we worked together at McCann. More importantly, he was my closest and oldest friend in Hong Kong. I will miss his friendship and kindness and his extraordinary talent very much,” said former McCann chief Kingsley Smith, currently at MDAP.
