The IT services giant has identified India as its global delivery hub, and is expecting to increase its headcount by an additional 35,000 in the country.
It is believed that members of Publicis’ India arm — Ambience Publicis — attended the pitch in Paris, because of the significance of the market to Capgemini.
“It has to build a very strong brand, not only for clients, but also to attract the right kind of talent,” explained a source involved in the pitch.
“Capgemini is one of the classic IT solutions providers, but this will be the first time that it will work out a complete positioning,” added the source. “It will have to work brilliantly in India. ”
Capgemini is the one of the world’s largest IT services companies, and has boosted its presence in India via two key acquisitions last year.
In September last year, Capgemini bought 51 per cent of Unilever India Shared Services, and in October it also acquired Kanbay International.
