
China's advertising expenditure grew 22 per cent year-on-year to RMB20.5
billion (about USdollars 2.5 billion) in the first quarter of the year,
according to figures provided by ACNielsen. Tonics and vitamins remained
the leading product categories in the country. However, the situation
was not as rosy in the more advanced markets of Hong Kong and Singapore.
The Adex for the former climbed 4.8 per cent to HKdollars 6.8 billion
(about USdollars 0.9 billion), while the Lion City put on four per cent
to Sdollars 337 million (about USdollars 186 million).
