Hagemeyer takes 850 achievers to Kuala Lumpur

Hagemeyer's objective for the Kuala Lumpur conference was to entertain and educate 850 top achievers from the electrical industry in Australia. The conference was held over four days with a combination of meetings, a trade show and evening functions.

Challenges
Because of prior bookings at the convention centre, Hagemeyer had only two days to build
the structures for the trade show and fit out the hall for the plenary sessions.
Another major challenge was moving more than 850 people from the airport to the Traders
Hotel and also around Kuala Lumpur. About 60 coaches were used on the arrival day.

Execution
With more than 65 key suppliers from the Australian electrical industry, the trade-show
featured everything new in the Australian market. It gave Hagemeyer’s staff, suppliers
and customers the opportunity to interact and share their knowledge on products and services in a fun and social atmosphere.
The gala dinner – themed ‘Spy vs Spy’ – was held in the grand ballroom, which was
decorated in black and white.
Delegates wore fancy dress costumes such as the Incredible Hulk, Superman, the Power
Rangers and Batman.
Exhibition Hall 2 was transformed into a disco and featured live Australian acts on
each night of the conference.
Other activities included: a cocktail reception for delegates sponsored by Tourism Malaysia that included a cultural performance and keynote speeches on the importance of health, exercise
and healthy eating.

Verdict
Martin Dench, marketing manager, Hagemeyer Australia, says he was very happy with the
event: “We were delighted with the success of the Hagemeyer Connections Conference.
“The support and assistance we received from the staff at both venues was fantastic and ensured our conference was a hit with our delegates.”
