ASIA-PACIFIC: Sony is using its music download website Planet MG to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its mini-disc (MD) and to promote the regional launch of the new Sony Walkman MD and Net MD.

A micro-site (PlanetMG. com/MD10) has been added to the music portal, allowing registered users to download up to three songs for free from a play-list of 50, using their Sony Net MD or other MD burners.

Online games such as 'space conquest', 'memory game' and 'puzzle challenge' are also available on the micro-site and users who score highly in the games have the chance to win a Sony MD.

"Users playing space conquest have to destroy aliens and battleships using a weapon which you have to boost (with firepower) by answering a series of questions about the MD product," said Lur Boon Lee, regional account director of AKQA, the Singapore interactive agency that built the micro-site. He also said the micro-site had a section with an online simulation showing how the Sony Net MD works.

"The whole online experience helps to create a positive brand feel. The micro-site promotes not only the Sony MD, but also the songs available for download on Planet MG," said Lur.
