Y&R Thailand wins Duty Free Shop brief

Young & Rubicam Thailand has scooped the account for King Power Duty Free Shop; the sole operator of duty free outlets in Thailand.

King Power operates 76 outlets at Thailand's major international airports, as well as two downtown outlets.
Until now, the company had used freelance agencies on a case-by-case basis for its communications.

"The company will launch new King Power Duty Free outlets in two strategic locations, one of them being the Suvarnabhumi Airport," explained Tida Vibulvanich, senior account director, Young & Rubicam Thailand.

"It has hired a professional communications partner to help it with the big launch, as well as build and strengthen the King Power brand."

The agency will handle the launch of the two new branches and develop an integrated marketing communications plan, expected to break next month. Ogilvy & Mather Thailand and McCann Erickson Thailand also pitched for the King Power business.

The King Power Group of companies recently won the Raven Fox award for 'Asia/Pacific Travel Retailer of the Year' for the third time at a ceremony in Singapore.
