Internet search giant Yahoo is to acquire Taiwanese Web portal

Kimo.com for USdollars 146 million to complement its www.yahoo.com.tw

service.



Yahoo has been searching to boost its Asian presence, particularly in

markets such as China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.



ACNielsen recently ranked Kimo the most popular site in Taiwan, while

Merrill Lynch named the site the market leader in Taiwan, with an 80 per

cent reach, ahead of competitor Yam.com.
