Twinity ties with AsiaOne for Virtual Singapore launch

SINGAPORE - Twinity, a 'virtual world' that is launching an online replica of parts of Singapore, has tied up with website network AsiaOne for marketing and sales support.

As part of this partnership all the websites within the AsiaOne network, including the site of The Straits Times, will support Twinity.

The virtual world will launch an online version of Orchard Road and Marina Bay in the third quarter of 2009.

The goal of Virtual Singapore is to promote the vibrant cityscape and lifestyle of Singapore. Retailers, brands and firms interested in promoting their products or space on Orchard Road are being sought to participate in the project.

Twinity is being developed by Metaversum, which received funding from various Government bodies to set up its headquarters in Singapore in 2008.

AsiaOne is owned by Singapore Press Holdings.
