Public Relations: 2 minutes with... Smart Travel Asia

Why is Smart Travel only online?

Public Relations: 2 minutes with... Smart Travel Asia

Over the past decade, information flows have speeded up to the point where they now literally travel at the speed of light. Consequently, people expect news and information available 'instantly'. It's the new 'fix'.

As lifestyles have changed, we felt it prudent to stay at the front end of the information wave. This is where the readers are.

What can Smart Travel offer to readers and advertisers?

We offer useful information -news you can use, rather than entertainment.

Good information is in short supply. Travellers need surveys and comparative data which are hard to find, as search engines are dominated by travel agents pushing just one commodity - price.

What features will excite PR people?

Any feature promoting destinations create demand for a region, an experience, of which various products like hotels, restaurants and shops are all part.

How can PR people help?

By issuing information that relates to the product and facilities - not F&B extravaganzas. People want to know about where they will stay and what they will have at their disposal.

How is your publication different from other travel mags in Asia?

We are a 'how to, where to' publication. To the best of my knowledge, we are the only dedicated online travel title. Yes, there are travel agency newsletters, but we are actually a magazine written and produced by professional journalists.
