SEOUL: MTV plans to launch a new online and mobile community in Korea, which will serve as a template for further launches across Asia.
MTV Boombox will combine on-demand programming and downloadable content with a music community site kitted out with video blogs, podcasting, file uploads and personalised home pages. The broadband and wireless platform will roll out in three phases starting this month, with all the applications set to be available by Q3.
MTV Networks Asia-Pacific president Nigel Robbins said: "Korea's advanced technology allows us to deliver our content in ways never seen before, and sets the tone for future digital growth throughout the region."
MTV also flagged up sponsorship opportunities for advertisers on the new platform, including full TVC streams and exclusive content unavailable on free to access sections.
