HEADLINES: Slower adspend tipped for Japan

Dentsu has forecast a slower growth rate of 4.3 per cent to Y4,140

billion (about USdollars 35.8 billion) in advertising expenditure for

Japan's four major media this year.



Last year, adspend in newspapers, magazines and television and radio

stations jumped 7.7 per cent to Y3,970 billion.



Taking all media into consideration, adspend in the country jumped 7.2

per cent last year to a record high of Y6,110 billion (about USdollars

52.74 billion). It was one of the highest year-on-year increases in

recent years and it was the first time adspend increased since 1997.
