China is considering allowing foreign companies to invest in the
country's cable television industry, according to a report in the
People's Daily Overseas Edition. Foreign investors are currently barred
from participating in China's burgeoning and lucrative cable TV arena,
but it is understood that new rules are being drawn up to open the door.
According to the report, the state council will approve the rules by the
end of this year, and submit them for lawmarker's consideration in 2001.
