Cochrane is taking over from James Latham, who has moved on to Covario, a search marketing agency. Prior to joining OpenText, Cochrane was with Adobe as vice president, product marketing for its digital marketing business unit, responsible for worldwide product marketing and management for Adobe Web Experience Management.

Based in the US, Cochrane will be responsible for strategic planning and implementation of OpenText’s global marketing efforts in the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) market, which is projected to reach US$19 billion in the next four years.

“The Asia-Pacific region is an important growth market for OpenText,” Cochrane told Campaign Asia-Pacific. “Asian companies in the region are expanding both within the region and overseas, creating a demand for EIM solutions in order to support their expansion plans.”

As a member of OpenText's executive leadership team, Cochrane will report directly to Mark J. Barrenechea, OpenText president and CEO.

Cochrane will leverage his 16-year of experience in content management and strategic marketing to further expand OpenText’s global brand.

He said there is a tremendous need among organisations to better manage and take action on the growing amounts of enterprise information, due to the influx of social media, a growing number of mobile devices and a greater dependency on the cloud.

“The volume of information required, generated and consumed for work purposes in recent years has exploded, with information coming from both within and outside the organisation,” Cochrane said. “The volume of information is so big now that companies today don’t just have one repository for all their information. What this often results in, is fragmentation and information silos. CIOs have been paying a lot of money for applications and systems that don’t talk to one another. EIM allows companies to consolidate and manage all their information from various systems and in doing so, fulfil their business obligations and objectives.”

Previously, Cochrane was CMO at Day Software, Inc., where he led marketing initiatives and partnered with the CEO and CFO to restructure business operations. He also worked for Alfresco Software, Inc. and Interwoven, Inc.
