Disney Channel set for Korean launch in June

Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting (KDB) will roll out the Disney Channel under its Skylife service, which itself was launched in March this year.

KDB has forecast that the Skylife platform will reach 500,000 Korean households by year-end. Disney's Korean feed will be broadcast in English with Korean subtitles.

"Recent equity studies conducted by Disney in Korea show that the Disney brand is highly regarded for 'instilling good values in children', said Disney Channel Asia managing director Raymund Miranda. The Korea launch gives the multi-language Disney Channel Asia a foothold in five markets, including Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines. The feed is one of three feeds for the region along with dedicated Taiwan and Australia feeds.
