MediaVest was named the media agency-of-record in Asia for online player Yahoo. Following the win, the agency will be the strategic lead and counsel for Yahoo’s media planning and buying across the region in eight key markets – Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore.

Wunderman is in the midst of a new regional leadership restructure with Steve Hsia appointed chief operating officer and Eric Ng taking on the reins of chief client officer. Hsia is responsible for overseeing the development of Wunderman and Agenda operations across Greater China and Southeast Asia while Ng focuses on growing regional clients out of Greater China and reinforcing social media and e-commerce capabilities across the region.

Wwwins Isobar China elevated Peter Shen to chief creative officer from his previous post of ECD. In this role, he will be responsible for raising Isobar’s creative standard and contributing to the next generation of digital creative clients for the firm.

Tribal DDB Asia-Pacific named Brandon Cheung as its regional digital strategy director. In this role, his key focus will be further developing Radar, Tribal DDB’s regional social media offering.

Digital CRM agency Group Edge has appointed former Mastercard marketing executive Natalie Lockwood to spearhead the agency’s growth. She spent the last 12 years leading Mastercard’s marketing efforts across 17 markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mediabrands appointed Ashley Nin as research and tools manager for Asia-Pacific. She joins the firm from PHD network where she served as regional insights planner, directing consumer insights across all accounts and new business pitches.

Online dating site eHarmony handed its national media planning and buying account to OMD Australia. The appointment follows a pitch process that launched in December last year after eHarmony received interest from a number of undisclosed media agencies.

Ebay purchased GSI Commerce for an estimated US$2.4 billion with the aim of adding services that help retailers market and distribute their items. The addition of GSI strengthens Ebay’s position as an online retail powerhouse and make it more competitive with Amazon.

Tribal DDB Shanghai tapped Keong Loh as digital strategist while Per Bruun was appointed director of operations in Shanghai. Loh will focus on growing the agency’s strategic division with the focus on integrating digital into the communications mix, while Bruun will take on an operational role overseeing the delivery of projects. 

Tribal DDB snapped up the global digital account for Unilever’s Flora/Becel brand from Ogilvy. The change came about as DDB is already the existing strategic agency on the brand, according to Unilever.
