DDB Singapore bags Grand Prix at SPH iink Awards

SINGAPORE - DDB Group Singapore’s ad campaign for DBS Bank won the Grand Prix award at the SPH iink Awards 2014, with the agency also named the creative agency of the year, while OMD took home the media agency of the year.

The SPH iink Awards 2014 Grand Prix prize was awarded for the ‘DBS Private Bank’ campaign,  a series of print ads featuring notes written by the bank’s CEO, MD and chief investment officer. The campaign won gold in the Print Single – English category and a silver in the Print Campaign – English segment.  

Points were allocated to the winners and finalists in each category. The Grand Prix winner was the entry that scored the highest number of points, while the highest scoring creative and media agency across all categories became the creative agency of the year and media agency of the year, respectively.

There were nine award categories this year: Print Single – English; Print Campaign – English; Print Single/Campaign – Chinese; Print Classified/Recruitment/Notice; Print Creative Media Buy; Digital; Radio; Out-of-Home; and SPH IS ON Campaign.

Other notable winners include Lowe Singapore for ‘Lifted’, a campaign for Unilever in the Print Single – Campaign category and Publicis Singapore  for Audi’s ‘Land of Quattro’ in the Print Single/Campaign – Chinese section.

Winners in most categories will receive a full-page advertising space in either of SPH’s flagship newspapers – The Straits Times or Lianhe Zaobao.

In addition to the winners in the above categories, there was a Readers’ Choice Award, which was given to ‘Lost and Found’ by Certis Cisco Security.

“As Singapore’s marketing and advertising industry becomes more crowded, the creativity that consumers see in any advertisement becomes the X-factor that makes the ad stand out from the competition,” said Leslie Fong, senior executive VP of SPH’s marketing division.

The awards, formerly known as the SPH Ink Awards, was originally launched to honour the best print ads. In 2012, three new categories - digital, radio and out-of-home were added to the mix.
