How many marketing staff does ESPN have in Asia?



ESPN has seven marketing staff in Singapore, one each in Hong Kong and

China, three in Taiwan and nine in India.



What are the responsibilities of ESPN's marketing staff?



Manage the brands ESPN and Star Sports channels, which are

consumer-focused, and the corporate brand ESPN Star Sports, which is

more trade-focused.



Event management and promotion of the in-house programming like Tiger

World 5s, X Games and CGU. Promote tune-in to key programmes, such as US

Open tennis, NBA. Work with the company's cable platforms to drive

subscription to its channels.



How does a candidate go about getting hired by ESPN?



Watch out for ads in the Straits Times recruitment section or log onto

espnstar.com. As well as relevant experience, a love of sport is a big

plus.



Is there an opportunity to move between departments or offices?



There have been some transfers to other offices such as Hong Kong and

Beijing, and also to ESPN in New York. However, as production is done

out of Singapore, these positions are relatively static.



What are the perks of the job?



A chance to watch sport, travel opportunities to events. Recently some

production/marcom staff returned from filming Wimbledon and the X Games

in Barcelona.



What's the average working week for ESPN's marketing team?



Eight days a week, as the company claims.



How often do ESPN marketing staff travel in a year and to where?



There's someone on the road every week, or at least it feels that

way.



Staff travel to China, Thailand, Malaysia, India, the Philippines,

Taiwan and Korea often and also go to major events like the US Open

tennis (New YorK); X Games (Philadelphia); or an NBA All Star game

(Washington).



Where do ESPN staff hang out?



Bisous wine bar - aka "the locker room". Or find ESPN staff at the

nearest cricket pitch, or curled up in front of the TV ... watching ESPN

or Star Sports.
