Bintang beer links brand to nightlife guide

JAKARTA: Indonesian brewer PT Multi Bintang has hired digital marketing agency Bluewave on a one-year contract to launch and maintain an online nightlife guide for its Bintang beer brand.

Bintang beer links brand to nightlife guide
The Indonesian beer brand - majority-owned by Heineken NV - will launch an online nightlife guide for Indonesia at the end of this month. The guide will list information on local bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as entertainment options in Jakarta and Bali.

The launch of the guide will enable Bintang to advertise its brand on television - something it has been unable to do in the past due to the Indonesian Government's restrictions, which prohibit the advertising of alcoholic beverages.

Andrew Smart, managing director at Bluewave Asia-Pacific, said the agency recently expanded its services to include web hosting, security systems and e-learning, which helped land the Bintang assignment.

"Clients generally have a range of requirements for any online project and this means we can expand our offerings of communications and branding.

We have the capability for hosting and that has enabled us to work on this project for Bintang."

Bluewave, which lists Volkswagen, Discovery, Bintang Beer and Levi's Asia-Pacific among its clients, will handle site design and development for Bintang and will help the brand build its online database.
