Terminal 3 opens at Changi Airport with US$1.2 billion price-tag

Changi Airport's new Terminal 3 (T3) has begun scheduled flight operations.

Terminal 3 opens at Changi Airport with US$1.2 billion price-tag

Costing US$1.2 billion, T3’s additional capacity of 22 million passengers brings total annual
capacity of the three terminals at Changi to about 70 million passengers per year. There are
28 aerobridge gates at T3, including eight gates that can handle the new A380 aircraft.

At the welcome ceremony for the maiden arrival of Singapore Airlines’ SQ001 flight from San Francisco on January 9, Singapore transport minister Raymond Lim said: “With this new terminal, we are poised to meet the demands of the growing tourist and business traffic in and
out of Singapore, especially when the two integrated resorts start their operations.”

Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) operations are now split across Terminals 2 and 3, with long-haul
flights departing from T3 and regional flights from T2.

However, arriving Singapore Airlines flights may land at either terminal with allocation
announced just two hours before arrival.

SIA’s facilities at T3 include an exclusive drive-up and check-in lounge for first-class passengers, leading to a separate immigration lane and the 4,000 sqm Silver Kris Lounge.

Departure immigration clearance has been streamlined.
China Eastern Airlines, India’s Jet Airways, Qatar Airways and United Airlines will also start
to use the new terminal from next month.
