Bartlett will also assume the role of creative director at I&S BBDO, the parent company of Proximity in the market.

At Proximity, Bartlett will be responsible for “expanding creative capabilities” and “evolving integrated communications”, according to the agency’s chief operating officer Wataru Kageyama.

In a statement, Kageyama described Bartlett as “the ideal person to lead our creative team”.

His main task as creative director of I&S BBDO will be to “accelerate growth in digital business”.

Bartlett has relocated to Tokyo from Proximity’s China office, where he has served as executive creative director for the past two years. During that period he supported Proximity Japan on a project basis.

The appointment will take effect from November.

BBDO was recently named Asia’s top advertising network in the Cannes Report.
