Yes TV strikes Hong Kong NFL deal with NowTV

HONG KONG - Yes TV has inked a last minute deal with Hong Kong broadband television provider NowTV, which will see the National Football League (NFL) carried on Now's platform, initially through Yes' GoalTV channel.

Yes TV strikes Hong Kong NFL deal with NowTV

The agreement comes just days after Yes TV landed the Asia-Pacific distribution rights to the NFL, after incumbent ESPN Star Sports relinquished them when it’s talks with the NFL broke down (Media, 10 September).

The last deal, struck before this weekend’s second round of games, gives NowTV access to exclusive weekly content, the playoffs, the Superbowl and the Pro Bowl.

Lloyd Chao, president, Yes Media, added that discussions were continuing with terrestrial operators in Hong Kong with a view to airing non-exclusive content.

“We’re negotiating with other operators in Hong Kong with a view to distributing other content. While the NFL will be carried on GoalTV initially, I think the wider plan would be that it’s carried on a separate sports channel with Now,” he said.
