The Aperto Partnership has hired former MediaCom Asia-Pacific chief Mark Heap as a consultant to expand its advisory business in APAC and the Middle East.
Heap brings more than 20 years of agency leadership experience. Heap previously served as CEO of Mindshare EMEA from 2022 to 2024, where he led operations across 41 markets. He was in charge of bringing in new business, restructured priority markets, and overhauling the region’s commercial and go‑to‑market model.
Before this role, he spent more than eight years as CEO of MediaCom APAC after moving across from PHD China in 2013. Before that, he led PHD China for around five and a half years, first as managing director and then as CEO. Across these roles he has worked with major brands including Unilever, Mars, P&G, Nestlé, Nike, Adidas, Volkswagen, Ford, and Uber.
In his new role with Aperto, Heap's brief is to advise advertisers reviewing media operating models, commercial frameworks, and agency relationships. Managing partner Andrew Mortimer said Heap will be able to bring unique international insight into the agency ecosystem to help clients build a competitive advantage.
Managing partner Scott Moorhead said Heap’s experience running agency P&Ls inside different holding groups would help clients understand how their partners make commercial and strategic decisions. He added: "APAC and the Middle East are becoming increasingly critical for global growth, but these regions are nuanced, highly diverse and often under‑understood from afar."
Heap said moving into consulting would allow him to act as a intermediary between brands and agencies. "When clients and agencies are aligned, the work improves dramatically," he added.
Founded in 2016, Aperto has recently worked on global or multi-market programmes for Mars, Visa, Sky, Barclays, Miele, Merlin Entertainments and Accor Hotels.
