MEDIA-I: ZDNet tech title hits Australian newsstands

SYDNEY: Despite grim economic conditions and a downturn in the

technology sector, ZDNet Australia has launched Technology & Business, a

magazine for IT professionals, this month.

The November issue of the magazine hit the newsstands at A$8.95

with a total circulation of 30,000. The title will provide IT

professionals with reports on emerging technologies and services,

covering the Australian market.

The magazine has invested A$100,000 (US$51,649) in

promotions and advertising, including online ads, point of sale

initiatives and exhibition sponsorships.

ZDNet Australia's general manager, Alison Day, said she was encouraged

by the findings of ZDNet's research over the year. "Results of our focus

group testing showed 84 per cent of IT managers said they were 'very

interested' in the T&B concept, and 71 per cent said they would buy the

title." The launch issue has 176 pages with 64 pages of advertising.
