McDonald's kicks off summer campaign

HONG KONG - McDonald's has launched the fifth edition of its 'Colors of Summer' campaign in Hong Kong, as the fast-food giant attempts to reinforce its association with the summer season.

Developed by DDB and OMD, the campaign includes two TVCs and a point-of-sale collector’s kit including 16 collectible Hello Kitty Messenger models. A special online component sees the launch of an interactive Hello Kitty Messenger MSN Robot, along with a dedicated website (

The TVCs feature up-and-coming model Angela Baby, and is built around the range of desserts and drinks available at McDonald’s. “Our goal this year is to surpass previous summer successes by elevating the level of engagement, relevancy and sophistication with our customers,” said Randy Lai, VP of Hong Kong marketing and communications, and regional marketing director for China and Hong Kong at McDonald’s.
