JW Marriott Shanghai launches 'Chef Room'

SHANGHAI JW Marriott Shanghai launched its Chef Closing Room - an initiative that provides event organisers with an opportunity to meet with the chef and catering team, and to experience catering options.

JW Marriott Shanghai launches 'Chef Room'

“We believe this is a first in China,” said Andrew Haughton, general manager of the hotel.
Clients are offered a tour of the kitchen, before a video presentation and tasting in the
new facility.

The experience is akin to a private dining experience in the chef’s office, albeit one with
a collection of 150 different varieties of wines.
Haughton said: “It’s a place we can explore and learn from our guests’ expectations and see
how we can meet them – not merely a showcase of what we have done.

“Guests get to experience the food and service, and tour the back of house – instead of just dealing with sales staff.”
