Co-developed with Samsung, the phone is the first Android phone to be shipped with the new platform.

The Gingerbread platform features a number of improvements in terms of user interface, new keyboard and text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/ SIP) calling, improved copy and paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.

Pitched as a ‘pure Google' phone, the Nexus S smartphone brings unlocked, unfiltered access to Google’s mobile services and the latest and greatest Android releases and updates.

The phone also features a 4-inch contour display, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and near field communication (NFC) hardware that allows information to be red from NFC tags.

The Nexus S is available for purchase online, and rolls out in stores in the US and UK this month.
