F1 pit building to be used for events

SINGAPORE The pit building for the inaugural Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix next September - now confirmed to be the first night race in the sport's history - is currently under construction at Raffles Boulevard.

It is likely to be put to good use outside the grand prix period and will add yet another
interesting event venue to the Marina Bay area.

Measuring some 350 metres long, the low-rise building along the waterfront will house key
race infrastructure. The second floor houses the media centre, Paddock Club hospitality
lounges, race control centre and winners’ podium. There are more hospitality facilities and
a roof terrace on the third floor.

The Singapore Tourism Board is looking at alternative uses for the pit building on non-race days throughout the rest of the year.

With total capacity for 4,000 guests, it can be used for corporate events and functions,
as well as possibly be leased out for short-term commercial use.
