CReATION: Sina.com files for IPO, sponsors MTV VJ contest

Chinese-focused Internet company Sina.com has filed an application

to list its shares on the Nasdaq stock market in the US.

Net proceeds of the offering are expected to be used for working capital

and other general corporate purposes.

Meanwhile, the company has partnered with MTV in China to host the music

network's inaugural VJ Hunt in the country.

This also marks the first time a dotcom has partnered with MTV in

China.

The VJ Hunt, carried out on Sina.com's website, attracted more than 800

applicants and created three new stars for MTV in China.

The results of the VJ Hunt were a combination of public voting and the

professional opinions of a panel of judges, comprising local artists,

critics, directors and senior executives from MTV and Sina.com.

"Entertainment today increasingly emphasises open participation and

interactivity, which are precisely what the Internet offers," said

Sina.com executive VP Paul Jin.

"The MTV-Sina VJ Hunt utilised the advantage of the Internet to extend

publicity and encourage wider participation."
