Who could ever imagine such a thing? A one-piece football playing kit?
The thing I liked most was how they tried to make the kit comply with FIFA's strict equipment regulations. For instance, they changed the colour of the kit at the waist in order to more clearly differentiate between the 'shirt' and the 'shorts'. That made the unique design at least look like a more traditional football uniform. It was a pretty funny try.
But I did appreciate the effort. It reminded me of how we also try hard to make our work a bit more creative under strict rules, guidelines and limitations.
Unfortunately, FIFA recently punished Cameroon for its daring design sense by deducting six points from its World Cup qualification campaign, and by fining the Cameroon Football Association US$154,000.
As a consequence, the Cameroon team has switched back to the regular two-piece kit for the remainder of its matches.
I think people should be more open-minded.
There'd be no fun if the world was too square.
